Galaxy Route

A map of the galaxy route can be viewed here.

Head west along Riverside Drive, following the cycle path downhill and then turning right under the underpass. Follow Perth Road to the roundabout, taking the first left onto Tom McDonald Avenue. Left at the next two roundabouts. Turn right, then right at the next roundabout. Follow Explorer Road to the next roundabout and turn right again. Go over the next roundabout and take the footpath left onto the Kingsway. Turn left, and follow Kingsway to the Swallow Roundabout. Left, onto Riverside Drive, keeping on the left hand side of the road, follow the path and turn right under underpass which you used earlier. Turn left, and follow the cycle path back to the recycling centre.

Summer Route 1:

Around Ninewells (Short) - 4.6 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Out onto Hawkhill and continue along Perth Road. Right up Invergowrie Drive left onto Glamis Drive, right up Ninewells Avenue and straight over roundabout onto Glamis Road. Sharp right into Balgay Park via North Entrance, follow path and bear left (run under the iron bridge). Exit Balgay Park via East entrance, right onto Balgay Road, left down Blackness Road, continue to Bellfield Street and back to university.

Around Ninewells (Medium) - 6 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Out onto Hawkhill and continue along Perth Road to Ninewells roundabout. Up Tom McDonald Avenue (past Maggies), straight over small roundabout and onto Kirsty Semple Way. Pass Ninewells on right, turn left onto Charleston Drive and continue round to Dickson Avenue. Left on Dickson Avenue, straight over roundabout onto Glamis Road and follow path into cemetery. Continue through Balgay Park (don’t run under the iron bridge), exit via East entrance, right onto Balgay Road, continue down Blackness Avenue, left onto Hawkhill and back to university.

Around Ninewells (Long) - 8 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Out onto Hawkhill and continue along Perth Road. Left down under the underpass towards the Galaxy start and turn right on to Riverside. Turn right under the Invergowrie underpass, back up along the Perth Road, and left up Tom McDonald Road at the roundabout. Left down the footpath opposite the Maggies entrance, turning left again down to the Mariner Drive carpark. Pick up the Green Circular here and follow it for a bit until you turn right up on to the north end of Mallaig Avenue. Left up Spey Drive, turn left onto Charleston Drive and continue round to Dickson Avenue. Left on Dickson Avenue, straight over roundabout onto Glamis Road and immediately follow path into cemetery, heading right at the curve. Continue through Balgay Park (don’t run under the iron bridge), exit via East entrance, right onto Balgay Road, continue down Blackness Avenue, left onto Hawkhill and back to university.

Caird Park (Short) - 4.5 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE
Out onto Old Hawkhill and up Marketgait. Right at roundabout, cross at traffic lights into Dudhope Crescent Road then follow footpath to (and continue along) Victoria Road. Up Dens Road, right up Arklay Street, right onto Clepington Road, right down Mains Loan, right down Dura Street. Left back down Dens Road and retrace steps back to University.

Caird Park (Medium) - 6.3 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Out onto Old Hawkhill and up Marketgait. Right at roundabout, cross at traffic lights into Dudhope Crescent Road then follow footpath to (and continue along) Victoria Road. Up Dens Road, right up Provost Road, across roundabout and up Old Glamis Road. Across Kingsway and turn right into Caird Park. At Mains Castle turn right onto Mains Loan and continue out of Caird Park and back across Kingsway. Continue down Mains Loan, right down Dura Street. Left back down Dens Road and retrace steps back to University.

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Out onto Old Hawkhill and up Marketgait. Right at roundabout, cross at traffic lights into Dudhope Crescent Road then follow footpath to (and continue along) Victoria Road. Up Dens Road, right up Provost Road, across roundabout and up Old Glamis Road. Across Kingsway and turn right into Caird Park. At Mains Castle turn left onto Mains Loan, continue out of Caird Park and right onto Claverhouse Road. *Follow Green Circular* Left on Eriskay Drive, right on Hebrides Drive, across A90 flyover and through Finlathen Park. Right down Pitkerro Road, continue down Dura Street. Left back down Dens Road and retrace steps back to University.

Out onto Hawkhill and up Bellfield Street. Continue up Blackness Road, right down Forest Park Road, right on Milnbank Road, left up Polepark Road, left on Lochee Road then right on Dudhope Terrace. Continue onto Constitution Street, left up Hilltown then keep right onto Mains Loan. Right on Dens Road, right on Alexander Street then left down Hilltown Take the footpath onto Dudhope Crescent, cross the road back onto Marketgait and back to University.

Over Hawkhill and up Bellfield Street. Continue up Blackness Road, right onto Balgay Road then left into Balgay Park. Sharp right and ascend footpath up past yellow gate. Turn right out of park and descend path to Saggar Street. Left on City Road, right on Gordon Street, right on Fullarton Street, then left up Campbell Street. Right onto Law Crescent, left up Law Steps and continue to the top of the Law. Descend steps on other side down to Law Road, stay right and turn left onto Kinghorne Road. Right down Carmichael Street, onto Macaulay Street, left down Drummond Street, then right onto Dudhope Terrace. Left into Dudhope Park, left past skate park, down Dudhope Park Steps and left onto Lochee Road. Right on West Markgetgait, right up Old Hawkhill and back to University.

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Over Hawkhill and up Bellfield Street. Continue up Blackness Road, right down Rosefield Street then left up City Road and continue onto Logie Street. Right on Loon’s Road then turn left and follow the path through the Miley nature reserve. Right on Clepington Road, right on Johnston Street, continue onto Brantwood Avenue and back onto Loons Road. Left on Alpin Terrace, left on Lawside Road, continue onto Albany Terrace then left down Inverlaw Place. Through Dudhope Park (passing skate park on right) and down Dudhope Park Steps. Left on Lochee Road, right on Blinshall Street and back to university.

The Miley (Medium) - 6.2 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Left along Hawkhill then right up Blackness Avenue. Continue onto Balgay Road, right on Pentland Avenue then left up City Road and continue onto Logie Street. Follow Riverside Drive / Green Circular past Riverside Inn, playing fields and airport. Cross back over Riverside Drive and bear right at roundabout. Continue past Botanic Garden and turn right onto Perth Road. Left up Glamis Road and turn right at the first roundabout onto Blackness Road. Continue all the way down Blackness Road, right onto Bellfield Street and back to university.

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Sharp right towards Balgay Park, left at the North entrance, follow the path up and down, then sharp left at the bottom of the hill and exit the park via the East entrance. Balgay & Dudhope (Short) - 4.3 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Left on to Old Hawkhill, out on to Hawkhill and turn right up Blackness Road. Left on to Balgay Road, left into Balgay Park and continue straight on through the cemetary. Turn right on to Glamis Road, follow it up and turn right on to Ancrum Road. Left on to Logie St and turn right up Loons Road. Turn right on to Gardner Street, continuing right down Rankine Street and out on to Lochee Rd. Turn right down Brook St, continue on to Guthrie Street and follow the road right to the roundabout and back to the Union.

Balgay & Dudhope (Medium) - 6.2 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Left on to Old Hawkhill, out on to Hawkhill and turn right up Blackness Road. Left on to Balgay Road, left into Balgay Park and continue straight on through the cemetary. Turn right on to Glamis Road and cross roundabout to continue up Dickson Avenue. Right on to Charleston Drive, continue along Ancrum Road, then left on Logie Street and turn right up Loons Road. Turn right on to Gardner Street, continuing along Inverary Terrace and Albany Terrace. Turn right at the end of Albany Terrace and then right on to Dudhope Terrace. Turn into Dudhope park at the corner, follow the diagonal path and turn left down before the skate park. Turn left on Lochee Road, right on to W Marketgait and right on to West Port, following up back to the Union.

Balgay & Dudhope (Long) - 8.2 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Left on to Old Hawkhill, out on to Hawkhill and turn right up Blackness Road. Left on to Balgay Road, left into Balgay Park and continue straight on through the cemetary. Turn right on to Glamis Road and cross roundabout to continue up Dickson Avenue. Left on to Charleston Drive, right on to Spey Drive and right on to Mallaig Ave. Turn right on to the Green Circular cycle path and follow along the path on the right hand side of South Road. Veer right up Arran Drive, left on to Charleston Drive and continue on to Ancrum Road. Turn left on Logie Street and turn right up Loons Road. Continue straight on to Byron Street and follow along via Harcourt Street to Strathmartine Road. Turn right, continuing down the Hilltown and turn left on to Constitution Street, continue along to Dudhope Terrace. Turn into Dudhope park at the corner, follow the diagonal path and turn left down before the skate park. Turn left on Lochee Road, right on to W Marketgait and right on to West Port, following up back to the Union.

Summer Route 8:

Hilltown & Baxter Park (Short) - 4.3 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Right on to Old Hawkhill, down West Port and left on to West Marketgait. Left up Lochee road, cross up into Dudhope Park opposite Magnet Kitchens, and go up through the park, veering right up the diagonal. Right on to Constitution Street, right on to the Hilltown, immediate left on to Alexander Street. Right on to Dens road at the lights, then immediate left on to Dura Street, continuing on to Pitkerro Road at Morgan. Right into Baxter Park, continue downhill parallel to Baxter Park Terrace. Right on to the Arbroath Road, continue down Victoria Road. Cross the bottom of the Hilltown, take the footpath onto Dudhope Crescent, cross the road back onto Marketgait and back to University.

Hilltown & Baxter Park (Medium) - 6.1 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Right on to Old Hawkhill, down West Port and left on to West Marketgait. Left up Lochee road, cross up into Dudhope Park opposite Magnet Kitchens, and go up through the park, veering right up the diagonal. Right on to Constitution Street, left up the Hilltown, continue on to Strathmartine Road and right at the 5 Ways down Moncur Crescent. Cont. on to Dens Road, left on to Dura Street continuing up the Forfar Road. Right on to the Clepington Road, pass Swannie Ponds, and sharp right on to Pitkerro Road. Left into Baxter Park, continue downhill parallel to Baxter Park Terrace. Right on to the Arbroath Road, continue down Victoria Road. Cross the bottom of the Hilltown, take the footpath onto Dudhope Crescent, cross the road back onto Marketgait and back to University.

Hilltown & Baxter Park (Long) - 6.1 miles

Route description: CLOCKWISE

Turn right on to Old Hawkhill, on to West Port, and cross over to West Marketgait. Left at the roundabout up Lochee Road, right at the junction up along Dudhope Terrace. Continue on to Constitution Street then left up the Hilltown. On to the Strathmartine Road, turning right after Fairmuir Park on to Park Road. Left on to the Old Glamis Road, cross the Kingsway and continue down the Old Glamis Road, right into Caird Park at the Gelly Burn. Right up Mains Loan before the castle, past the RPC and cross back over the Kingsway at the new lights. Turn left on the Clepington Road, past Swannie Ponds, and a sharp right on to Pitkerro Road. Turn into Baxter Park following the path downhill parallel to Baxter Park Terrace. Exit the park turning right on to the Arbroath Road, cont. on to Victoria Road, cross the Hilltown and cut down via the path at the start of Dudhope Street to Marketgait. Retrace your steps along West Marketgait to the Union.

Around Ninewells Reverse (Short) - 4.6 miles

Route description: ANTICLOCKWISE

Over Hawkhill and up Bellfield Street. Continue up Blackness Road, right onto Balgay Road then left into Balgay Park. Follow path and bear right (run under the iron bridge). Sharp left back onto Glamis Road and straight over roundabout onto Ninewells Avenue. Left onto Glamis Drive, right down Invergowrie Drive, left onto Perth Road, back onto Hawkhill and back to University.

Around Ninewells Reverse (Medium) - 6 miles

Route description: ANTICLOCKWISE

Left along Hawkhill then right up Blackness Avenue. Continue onto Balgay Road then turn left into Balgay Park. Follow path through cemetery (don’t run under the iron bridge) and out onto Glamis Road. Right up Glamis Road, straight over roundabout onto Dickson Avenue, then left onto Charleston Drive. Follow Charleston Drive to Ninewells, turn right down the footpath and onto Kirsty Semple Way. Clockwise around Clatto Reservoir. Continue down tracks and turn left onto Templeton Road, right on Coupar Angus Road then right on Blairfield Road. Left at bottom of Blairfield Road, then right towards Dronley (reverse John Mcinally route).Right over Dronley Burn Bridge, left on Dronley Road. Continue past Dronley Woods and turn right towards Leoch Farm. Left at first T junction, left at second and follow road, bearing right past houses. Right at third T junction and continue towards Bridgefoot (T10 route). Continue on to Strathmartine Road, then sharp right onto path towards Clatto woods. Turn left then right, follow the path through the woods back to the reservoir and run clockwise back to the car park.
